The following 16 files are associated with the Browser Capabilities Project. Collectively these 16 files are referred to as the files.

The files are protected by copyright and are licensed for download via a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial License referred to as the license.
You may use the files on a web server and with analytic/statistics software without violating the NonCommercial restrictions of the license.
If you intend to make use of the files in conjunction with a commercial product or service that contains an auto-update feature you shall contact me first to obtain permission.
Said permission is usually perfunctory. Mostly I'm concerned with things like what the added load on my server might be. If the potential load is too large I might ask you to mirror the files on one of your servers and have your customers update via your mirror.
If you want to disregard my request and launch your product without consulting me please plan on your customers losing access to their updates fairly quickly. In short, it's a lot easier to be polite about this and contact me first. That way I can work with you to ensure you'll get the services you'll need without the risk and embarrassment of being cut-off from receiving updates.
All other license restrictions remain as-is.
If you want to automate the process of checking for new versions of the files you shall use one of the methods defined in my FAQ. Any other method shall be considered abuse.
I want to make it easy for you to check for updates. I just want to be sure you use a method that requires very little in the way of server resources.
I consider it abuse to check for updates more than once a day.
If you're going to be testing a script please contact me first and include the user agent. This will ensure you don't get banned for abuse.
It shall be considered abuse if you use the User Agent Checker or Your Browser pages remotely unless you have been whitelisted. I rarely whitelist anyone who requests it.
If you abuse any of the services I offer the chances are you will eventually lose access to the entire website. I've been known to block huge ranges of IP Addresses just to limit the potential damage an abuser can do to my website's performance. I am offering products and services in good faith. Please use them in good faith. Thank you.
Despite my best efforts there are occasionally errors in the files that can result in browsers and their capabilities being identified incorrectly. Errors and omissions bother me and I correct them as quickly as possible. However, I assume no liability for any loss you may suffer because of the incorrect identification of any user agent as a result of using the files.
